VIRUS-OUTBREAK-PUBLIC HEALTH-STATE LOCAL SPENDING — Chart. An investigation by The Associated Press and Kaiser Health News has found that per person spending at state and local public health departments has fallen over the past decade and jobs have been slashed, leaving the nation unprepared to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. The following digital embed is a chart revealing the share of state and local government money going toward nonhospital health expenditures.
