Basin Briefs for Jan. 31, 2020

OTHELLO — One of the signs of spring in the Columbia Basin is water starting to flow into the East Low Canal. East Columbia Irrigation District officials have announced they will start filling the East Low Canal March 23.

Irrigation water deliveries are scheduled to begin March 30. The district’s Block 49 receives water from the Potholes East Canal, and water deliveries there are scheduled to start March 18.

Water deliveries are, however, dependent on local demand, and the start dates for individual lateral systems will depend on demand. “Pump plants will be started when orders are sufficient for start-up,” according to an irrigation district press release. Customers are asked to contact the watermaster headquarters in their area or the local ditch rider for further information.
