Pond Hockey Tournament returning to Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE — The Pond Hockey Tournament is returning to Moses Lake this weekend as the Moses Lake Youth Hockey Association will host 27 teams at the Moses Lake Ice Rink.
The teams include a mix of both adult and youth players. Teams will be traveling from all over to participate, including Tri-Cities, Spokane, Everett, Kirkland and Lewiston, Idaho.
Games will take place on Friday night and all day Saturday. Games on Friday begin at 6 p.m. lasting until around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, teams will hit the ice again around 9 a.m., with games lasting until around 10 p.m.
This marks the second year for the Pond Hockey Tournament in Moses Lake. Moses Lake Youth Hockey Registrar Courtney Russell said in the event press release that the tournament is a unique event they hope to keep going annually.
The tournament follows traditional “pond hockey” style, featuring 3-on-3 matches without goalies for 20 minutes. Three games can be played simultaneously, with 91 games on the slate for the tournament schedule.
