OTHELLO — The Othello Police Department is looking to hire an additional officer.

“The Othello City Council has authorized the department to grow by one officer,” said Assistant Chief David Rehaume.

The department is hiring for a patrol spot. It is an entry level and lateral position. Entry level applicants will be sponsored through law enforcement academy upon hire. Lateral officers should have 12 months of continuous employment as a full-time peace officer and must possess a valid Washington state law enforcement academy certification or equivalent from another state. Lateral officers could be offered as much as a $7,500 signing bonus.

“We are a 24-hour, service-oriented department,” Rehaume said. “Officers are charged with following the laws of the State of Washington. They must work well with others and successfully pass entry or lateral requirements.”

Currently, the Othello Police Department has 16 police officers.

Applications are being accepted until Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. To learn more, call the Othello City Clerk at 509-488-5686 or email [email protected].
