BERLIN (AP) — German police raided premises linked to Chechen Islamists early Tuesday on suspicion that they were planning a serious “violent crime,” officials said.
Berlin prosecutors said in a statement that the raids took place in the German capital and the states of Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia.
“The searches are ongoing and relate to suspects of Chechen origin from the Islamist scene,” prosecutors said on Twitter.
Prosecutors didn't immediately return a call seeking further comment.
