| January 14, 2020 8:31 AM

December 3, 1960 – January 4, 2020

Jonathan (John) Paul McCloy went to be with his Lord on Jan. 4, 2020 after a short battle with leukemia.

John was born Dec. 3, 1960 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Wayne and Anna Mae McCloy. He spent his youth in Iowa and Missouri.

It was in Fulton, Missouri in 1981 that he met his future wife when she ran over him with a cart full of dishes. He returned with her to Othello where her family lived and they were married in August of 1982. They had three sons while living in Othello and Mattawa. In 1997 they moved to Moses Lake.

For 10 years he worked as a milker and herdsman on various dairies in the Columbia Basin. He also spent this time turning wrenches on the side and started his own mobile automotive service, J&M’s Repair. Eventually, he supported his family solely with his business. He didn’t stop learning new things and J&M’s Repair became J&M’s Construction.

He could do anything and was still enjoying a successful business when diagnosed with leukemia. He never let any of his many health issues stop him from working hard to accomplish his goals and provide for his family.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Jennifer McCloy; sons Joshua McCloy (Lexi), Jeremy McCloy (Mehgan) and John Mark McCloy; grandchildren Brooklyn, Conner, Charlotte, Jane and Scarlett, all of Moses Lake; mother Anna Mae Edwards of Lime Springs, Iowa; brothers Wayne McCloy ( Debi) of Chehalis, Washington, Brent McCloy, James Edwards (Lynn) of Port St. Lucie, Florida and John Edwards of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sisters Joyce Rains (Mark) of Maquoketa, Iowa, Mary Carter (Alan) of Valdosta, Georgia, Carol Edwards of Dyersville, Iowa, Linda Cronk (Mike) of Elkhart, Iowa and Martha Mathison (Neil) of Spring Grove, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Moses Lake Church of Christ, 808 E. Sharon Ave. on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m..
