Brooks Koepka returns to competition this week for the first time since injuring his left knee in South Korea three months ago. Koepka had stem cell treatment in his short offseason for a partially torn tendon in his patella. He slipped while walking off the tee on Oct. 18 at the CJ Cup and reinjured the knee. Koepka is playing in Abu Dhabi. He says his swing feels the same. Koepka says he started hitting balls before Christmas and doesn't feel pain. But he says the left knee still doesn't feel the same as the right knee. SENT: 1,250 words.

Washington State is close to finalizing an agreement with Hawaii’s Nick Rolovich to take over as the Cougars' head football coach, according to two people with knowledge of the situation. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the hiring had not been announced by the school. The Athletic first reported that Rolovich is expected to take over the Washington State program after Mike Leach left for Mississippi State last week. The deal is expected to be for five years at $3 million per season. Rolovich has been at Hawaii for four seasons and led the Rainbow Warriors to the Mountain West Conference West Division title this season. SENT: 520 words.

Honolulu Bar Closes-Olive Garden
HONOLULU — A popular Honolulu bar and restaurant is set to close and be replaced by a new outlet of one of the nation's biggest restaurant chains. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported the Mai Tai Bar and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at Ala Moana Center are scheduled to close next month. Olive Garden plans to open its first Hawaii restaurant in the space at the state’s largest mall. The Italian restaurant company has filed a $50,000 building permit for the bar's current location at the mall. Bubba Gump Chief Operations Officer Jim DuFault said the closure is the result of a rental dispute.
Hazard Mitigation Plan
HILO, Hawaii — Officials say public meetings have been scheduled to discuss updates to Hawaii County’s multi-hazard mitigation plan. The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported the plan consists of the county’s hazard and risk assessment for natural disasters. Officials say the plan includes proposed projects to reduce the potential loss of life and property on the Big Island. Officials say the multi-hazard mitigation plan is required for the county to be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency funds and must be updated every five years. Public meetings have been scheduled Jan. 22, 23, 29, and 30 at four Big Island locations.
