ILLINOIS COLD CASE
LISLE, Ill. — Police near Chicago say advances in DNA testing have helped them solve the case of a 16-year-old girl who was strangled in 1976. Lisle police said in a Facebook post that they would detail the new findings in the death of Pamela Maurer during a news conference later Monday, which was 44 years to the day that she was reported missing. “The Lisle PD has never forgotten about Pam, and have opened the case several times over the years to try to bring her killer to justice,” the department said. BOEING-NEW CEO
Changing CEOs was the easy part. Now it's up to Boeing's new leader to deal with a crisis caused by two crashes and the grounding of the company's best-selling plane. David Calhoun took over Monday as Boeing's third CEO in the last five years, following the firing last month of Dennis Muilenburg. XGR--PREGNANT WOMEN-RESERVED PARKING
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — An Illinois legislator wants the state to set aside reserved parking spots for expectant mothers and parents with a newborn child at the Capitol Complex, which already has reserved spaces for electric vehicles and disabled drivers. During the last legislative session, Rep. Katie Stuart said a pregnant lobbyist asked if she could voice her concerns about the lack of reserved parking for pregnant women and new parents. Stuart said she expects backing from the General Assembly to get legislation allowing the reserved spots passed in the upcoming spring session, The State Journal-Register reported. DISMEMBERED BODY
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A judge in western Michigan told struggling jurors to keep deliberating Monday in the trial of a former Illinois police officer who was charged with assisting his son after the younger man killed and dismembered a woman. James Chance, 77, of Holland is charged with perjury and being an accessory after the dismemberment of Ashley Young in 2018. His son, Jared Chance, 30, is serving a 100-year prison sentence in Young’s killing. James Chance is a former Rock Island, Illinois, police officer. SENT: 230 words.
