In November, we will elect the new president of the United States and you have the opportunity to choose the nominee. On Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, Republicans across the state of Washington will assemble at designated precinct caucus locations to begin the process of helping to draft the political platforms and to select delegates and alternate delegates for the Grant County Convention.

To participate you must attend the caucus for the precinct in which you live. Perhaps you aren’t aware of the precinct in which you live, but you may call the County Elections Office at 509-754-2011. The Elections Department can also give you the location of your caucus. You may also go to our website at www.grantcountygop.com to find your location. You will also be able to find your location on the Republican GOP Grant County Facebook page. Finally, you can go to www.wsrp.org/caucus to find your precinct location and to pre-register.

On the day of the caucus, Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, registration will be from 9-10 a.m. You will be required to show your voter card and a picture ID. If you have lost your voter card, you may contact the Elections Office at the Grant County Courthouse, 509-754-2011, ext. 2704 and they will be able to mail a new one. Or, you can go to the Elections Office and they will give you one on the spot. The caucus officially convenes at 10 a.m. statewide. When the caucus officially begins, each precinct will elect a chairperson and a secretary. Then the members of each caucus will discuss the Grant County Republican Party platform and suggest changes that they would like to have the body consider. Those suggestions will be approved or not at the Grant County Republican Convention. Then you will elect delegates and alternate delegates to the Grant County Republican Convention. When that is completed, the caucus will adjourn. The chair of each precinct caucus will then forward their precinct results to me, and I will then send them on to the Washington State Republican Party.

This is the chance to have your voice heard in the Republican Party. I invite you to join us in this very important event leading up to the Washington State Convention, and then from there to the Republican National Convention where the Republican nominee will be chosen.
