The Nation's Weather for Friday, February 14, 2020

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

A large area of high pressure will build into the Northeast

tomorrow, ushering in a blast of Arctic air that will drop

temperatures to the lowest levels for the region so far this

season. Any lake-effect snow showers will gradually taper

off throughout the day. Farther south, a cold front will

bring showers and thunderstorms across South Florida. The

area of high pressure will be large enough to promote dry

conditions across the central and southern Plains, while

southerly winds will encourage temperatures to trend higher.

Meanwhile, a storm system sweeping through the Northwest is

expected to bring coastal rain and areas of snow into

interior areas. Dry conditions will prevail in the Southwest

with seasonably cool conditions.
