Port of Mattawa parcels annexed into city of Mattawa
MATTAWA — The Mattawa City Council approved the annexation of three parcels of land, with city utilities, in the Wahluke Industrial Park in the Port of Mattawa.
One of the lots is the proposed future home of the pizza and sandwich shop Tiddaly Diddalys. The second lot is currently vacant. The third has an existing warehouse and is owned by Mattawa City Councilman Sun Hwang. Hwang recused himself from the annexation vote, which passed unanimously.
Mattawa City Planner Darryl Piercy said that the roadways associated with the properties are not part of the annexation because they are owned by private landowners.
“We will be working with the port to transfer those at a later date,” Piercy said.
“We’re happy,” said Port of Mattawa Director Lars Leland after the meeting, of the annexation.
Leland expressed his hope of continuing to work with the city of Mattawa.
