Moses Lake fire destroys garage, part of home
MOSES LAKE — A fire Monday morning in the 8300 block of Terminal Street Northeast destroyed a detached garage and part of a home and displaced at least two people.
About 14 Grant County Fire District 5 firefighters responded to the ablaze detached garage in Moses Lake beginning at 8:36 a.m., according to Battalion Chief Bob Horst. No one was injured, he said, including animals.
The fire worked its way from the garage to the home, he said, through the kitchen window and under a covered patio. The nine fire vehicles cleared the scene by 11:47 a.m., he said.
The garage was a total loss, he added, and both structures were uninhabitable. The damage estimate and cause will be determined by the Grant County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The American Red Cross was helping the displaced people, he said.
It was unclear how many people lived at the home, Horst said, as neighbors told him two people escaped, but at least one other person said he also lived there occasionally. Horst said he also heard six people inhabited the place.
“There were conflicting stories about who lives there,” he said.
