Mike Garza re-elected as Othello School Board chair
OTHELLO — Mike Garza has been re-elected for another one-year term as Othello School Board president, with a 4-0 vote during the regular school board meeting Monday.
Jenn Stevenson was chosen as the board vice president, also on a 4-0 vote. Board members decided to delay choosing a president pro-tem, after board member Ken Johnson turned it down. Board member Lindsy Prows wasn’t at the meeting, and Johnson said he would prefer to wait until all board members were present to finish filling the elective offices.
The board also delayed choosing a representative to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
In other business, board members will meet virtually at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 with state Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville, and state representatives Mary Dye, R-Pomeroy, and Joe Schmick, R-Colfax. The online meeting will be open to the public, but viewers will not be able to ask questions.
“There’s no public comment,” Stevenson said.
Board members asked for the meeting to discuss the upcoming 2021 legislative session, Stevenson added.
