Moses Lake apartment complex residents donate to food bank
MOSES LAKE — Central Park Apartments residents held a food drive that resulted in a donation of more than 300 pounds of non-perishable food to the Moses Lake Food Bank.
Community manager Kar Vanerstrom-Leal said the food drive is one way to make a contribution to the community in tough times.
“Knowing this year has been a challenge for everybody,” she said.
The food bank helps a lot of people, she said, even more in a year marked by the coronavirus epidemic.
“Everyone needs, once in a while, a little extra help,” she said. “If we can bless somebody else, let’s do it. And we did it.”
Residents of the 129 units on North Central Drive donated 302 pounds of food, she said.
“I was flabbergasted to see all the people who came in and donated,” Vanerstrom-Leal said.
Vanerstrom-Leal said food bank workers told her the Central Park donation was unusual because it was from a group that’s not a community organization.
“They’re a great group of residents,” she said.
