Four more coronavirus deaths confirmed in Grant County

MOSES LAKE/OTHELLO — Four new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Grant County Nov. 25. Three of those were associated with outbreaks at McKay Healthcare & Rehab Center, in Soap Lake, and Lake Ridge Center, in Moses Lake. The fourth death was a Moses Lake resident who was not part of a long-term care facility.

As of Monday, 11 additional deaths were being reviewed as possibly COVID-19 related.

The total number of reported COVID-19 cases Monday in Grant County was 5,019, up from 4,629 from Nov. 23. The Mattawa area saw an increase of 19 cases, bringing the total to 594 cases. Royal City increased in cases from 375 to 384. Warden’s reported cases increased from 253 to 276. The Othello rural area, south of Warden, increased by seven cases, for a total of 91.

Throughout the county, the Coulee City area increased from 16 cases Nov. 23 to 18 cases on Monday. Ephrata’s number jumped by 41, for a total of 431 cases. The Grand Coulee area went from 18 cases to 21.

Moses Lake had the biggest increase in cases, adding 226 cases for a total of 1,983 reported cases.

Quincy’s count jumped from 1,036 to 1,097 total cases. Soap Lake reported five new cases, for a total of 111 cases. The Wilson Creek area only increased by one, bringing the count to 12.

Of the 5,019 cases reported on Monday, 18 patients were hospitalized and 3,469 patients had recovered. Of those, 2,597 are male and 2,400 are female. In the newborn to 18-year-old range, there were 713 reported cases. Of those 19- to 40-year-olds, 2,219 patients tested positive. In the 41- to 60-year-old range, there were 1,398 cases.

Five hundred forty-two patients were in the 61- to 80-year-old range. Of those 81-year-olds and older, there were 131 reported cases. The Grant County Health Department noted that because of ongoing investigations, not all numbers would add up correctly.

In Adams County, the number of cases went from 1,325 reported cases Nov. 23 to 1,394 cases on Monday. Of those, 1,173 patients recovered, two patients were hospitalized and no new deaths were reported, leaving the total number of COVID-19 associated deaths at 12. As of Monday, 6,855 total tests were administered, with 5,244 of those coming back negative. One hundred thirty-two tests were pending.

Of the reported cases in Adams County, 243 were in those 19 years old and younger. Five hundred twenty-six cases are in patients 20 to 39 years old. Of those 40- to 59 years old, 405 cases were reported. In the 60- to 79-year-old range, there were 180 cases. Forty cases have been reported on those 80 years old and older. There have been 690 males and 704 females testing positive.

The number of reported cases in Othello rose from 1,241 on Nov. 23 to 1,303 on Monday. Ritzville increased by six cases for a total of 65 cases. Lind only had one new reported case for a total of 10 cases. Hatton held steady with 11 cases, Washtucna remained at four cases and Benge was the same, with one case.
