OTHELLO — The Christmas season will be commemorated with a parade, fireworks, lighting the community tree and a food and toy drive at the “Christmas Miracle on Main Street” celebration Saturday in Othello.

It’s the second year for a revived Othello holiday celebration. But this is 2020, so organizer Tania Morelas said people attending are being asked to observe social distancing rules and other regulations put in place to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

The festivities start at noon, when food booths open in front of Othello City Hall, 500 E. Main St. They’ll be open throughout the afternoon and evening. Vendors, too, will be following rules established to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

There’s also a decorating contest for downtown businesses.

Applications for the parade, the decorating contest and food vendors are available on the Christmas Miracle on Main Street’s social media pages.

The parade is at

5 p.m. The tree lighting will follow in front of Othello City Hall.

The fireworks will follow the tree lighting, or at around 7 p.m. The fireworks show originally was scheduled for July 4, but the coronavirus pandemic scuttled the celebration.
