The Nation's Weather for Friday, August 28, 2020

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

The center of Laura will move through northern Arkansas and

into western Kentucky and Tennessee tomorrow. The storm will

still pack a punch in terms of heavy rainfall, gusty winds

and isolated tornadoes along its path. Thunderstorms are

forecast to erupt across the South, including the areas

beginning cleanup and recovery efforts in the wake of Laura.

Farther north, a non-tropical system over the Midwest can

bring severe weather dangers with thunderstorms from the

western Great Lakes to the mid-Atlantic. Dry, pleasant

weather will hold in New England. Cooler air will spill into

the northern Plains, while intense heat persists across

much of the West and southern Plains. Storms are likely to

gather over the high terrain of the Four Corners states

later in the day.
