NATIONAL SUMMARY

Showers and thunderstorms, some with flooding downpours,

will affect the Southeast tomorrow. Afternoon thunderstorms

could turn strong in parts of the eastern Dakotas and

western Minnesota. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms will

rumble in portions of Arizona, New Mexico and far West

Texas. Some of the storms in the Southwest can bring more

lightning than rain and cause new fires to ignite.

Elsewhere, showers are forecast to dampen western and

central Washington state. Otherwise, temperatures over the

Southwest will continue well over 100 F, although they are

not likely to be quite as high as recent days. Much of the

nation east of the Mississippi River will have highs in the

80s, expect for 70s in northern and central Maine and 90s in

South Florida.
