NATIONAL SUMMARY

Much of the area from Iowa and Missouri, eastward to the

Northeast will be dry tomorrow. Farther south, thunderstorms

are forecast to rumble from Virginia, southward to Florida,

and westward to Mississippi. Afternoon thunderstorms will

dot the landscape in the higher terrain of Arizona, eastern

New Mexico, eastern Colorado, and western and central

Montana. Some of the storms in Montana may be strong. A

spotty afternoon thunderstorm will also be found in the

mountains of Southern California. Showers will dampen

western Washington, but a dry day is expected elsewhere.

Extreme heat will continue to bake the Southwest, with the

hottest desert locations likely to have temperatures around

120 F. Farther east, temperatures in the 90s will be found

as far north as North Dakota and southern Canada.
