OLYMPIA — Washington state Treasurer Duane Davidson has chosen Rep. Alex Ybarra, R-Quincy, as chair of his leadership committee as Davidson seeks re-election, according to a press release.

Among his statements in the press release, Ybarra said he was honored to chair Davidson’s campaign.

“It is imperative that Duane Davidson is re-elected as our Washington state treasurer. A professional CPA, Treasurer Davidson has been key to our past financial success in investments. Treasurer Davidson was also responsible for refinancing Washington’s debt, saving the citizens of Washington over $450 million in future debt payments while also earning us the first triple-A bond rating in Washington’s history. If the majority party would have listened to his sound fiscal advice before COVID-19, we’d have invested more into our Rainy Day fund and wouldn’t be looking at such a bleak budget year because of revenue shortfalls,” Ybarra said in the press release.

Ybarra is the representative in Legislative District 13, position 2, in the state House.
