NATIONAL SUMMARY
Showers and thunderstorms will rumble in much of the
mid-Atlantic and Southeast tomorrow. Some of the storms will
produce localized flash flooding in western Virginia and
western North Carolina. A shower or thunderstorm cannot be
ruled out in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and
Missouri. Afternoon thunderstorms will dot the landscape in
portions of the Four Corners region as well as the high
elevations in California. Elsewhere in the West, most areas
will remain dry and sunny. In addition, extreme heat will be
widespread, with temperatures over the century from Portland
and points south on Interstate 5. Some of the deserts of
southeastern California and western Arizona will surpass 120
F. Much of Texas will also be over 100.
