Veterans job fair canceled

MOSES LAKE — Grant County Veterans Advisory Board members have announced the cancellation of the annual veterans job fair, which had been scheduled for Sept. 26 at Grant County Fairgrounds.

The job fair was canceled due to concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a press release from the board.

The job fair has been an annual event connecting veterans with prospective employers and services available to them, from housing to transportation. Traditionally, volunteers also distribute military surplus gear.

The county has a veterans assistance coordinator, who can help veterans with food, clothing, rent, utility assistance and cold weather gear. Veterans can set up an appointment by calling 509-754-2011, ext. 2931. Veterans must provide proof of honorable service and Grant County residency, and they must demonstrate they qualify for the services.
