Rent assistance program offered to Grant, Adams county residents
ELLENSBURG — HopeSource, a non-profit organization that provides services to low-income households, has a program that is designed to prevent homelessness due to impacts from the COVID-19 outbreak.
Grant and Adams county residents ages 18-24 are eligible for an Eviction Rent Assistance Program for those who need financial help to remain in their home, the organization announced in a press release.
Through the Washington State Department of Commerce and the federal CARES Act, more than $110,000 will be available for residents of those two counties, HopeSource stated in a release. Renters must have an income at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income to qualify for the program. As an example, a two-person household that earns less than $2,500 a month could potentially qualify for assistance. Applicants also need to meet other criteria, like having unpaid rent since March 1, the press release explained.
Those that wish to apply for the program can visit www.hopesource.us. Applicants are asked to choose the “Need Help?” button and specify housing/rent assistance on the application, or call 509-707-0179.
