Investigation continues into shooting incident
OTHELLO — Investigation is continuing into an incident Aug. 5 where an Othello police officer may have exchanged gunfire with a suspect.
No one was injured in the incident, which occurred in the 800 block of Larch Street.
On Monday Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Columbia Basin Investigative Team, said a suspect in the case has been arrested. The CBIT is investigating the incident. The officer involved has not been identified and has been placed on paid administrative leave.
The suspect, Aaron Urbina, 32, Othello, was arrested Aug. 6 in Franklin County.
The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 5. The officer informed dispatchers he was contacting an individual, and a few minutes later radioed that shots had been fired and the suspect might have a gun. The suspect fled the scene.
Foreman said an update on the investigation will be released Aug. 13.
