Adams County to release updated election totals Friday

RITZVILLE — Updated vote totals for Adams County will be released Friday for the primary election Aug. 4.

In Tuesday’s results, challenger Dan Blankenship, Ritzville, was leading two-term incumbent John Marshall, also of Ritzville, in the race for Adams County commissioner. Blankenship had 509 votes to 204 votes for Marshall. The third candidate in the race, Glen Stockwell, of Ritzville, had 153 votes.

Two seats were up for election on the commission. Jay Weise, of Othello, leads Ken Johnson, of Othello, in the race for the seat being vacated by incumbent Roger Hartwig. Weise had 200 votes to 86 for Johnson.

While Adams County vote totals were not updated Thursday, other counties counted votes, and vote totals changed in the races for the Ninth District in the Washington Senate and the Washington House of Representatives. On Thursday, incumbent Mark Schoesler, Republican from Ritzville, maintained his wide lead over Democratic challenger Jenn Goulet, of Pasco. Schoesler had 21,959 votes to 10,576 votes for Goulet.

Incumbent Mary Dye also maintained her wide lead over challenger Brett Borden in the race for the Ninth District’s Position 1 in the House of Representatives. Dye, a Republican from Pomeroy, had 24,047 votes to 6,543 for Borden, of Pullman, representing the Libertarian Party.

The primary election will be certified Aug. 18.
