Moses Lake woman with coronavirus dies

GRANT COUNTY — An 11th Grant County resident with the coronavirus has died, Grant County Health District announced Wednesday.

The patient, a Moses Lake woman in her 80s who was a resident of an adult family home, had underlying health conditions that put her at a higher risk of severe complications and death from COVID-19. The health district did not name the facility where the deceased was a resident but stated that two staff members and no other residents have tested positive.

The announcement comes more than a week after the woman’s death, according to data from the state Department of Health. According to the health district, the announcement of COVID-19 deaths is being delayed to give families time to notify their loved ones and to allow the district to verify that COVID-19 was the cause of death, which it does by the primary cause listed on the death certificate.
