NATIONAL SUMMARY

The last piece of today's soaking storm will meander toward

the Northeast coast tomorrow. Showers and areas of drizzle

will linger from the upper Ohio Valley to upstate New York

and the mid-Atlantic coast. A steady rain is expected to

sweep through New England, perhaps leading to localized

flooding. High pressure will be in control from the central

Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast and southern Plains, leading

to rain-free conditions with some sunshine.

Record-challenging heat will persist over the Desert

Southwest and expand into the central and southern Plains.

A weak disturbance in southern Canada will spread a few

showers and thunderstorms across the northern Plains.

Afternoon showers will also dampen part of the central

Rockies. The Northwest will get a dry break between storms.
