Royal City ballot box to move

| April 28, 2020 11:38 PM

ROYAL CITY — The ballot box in Royal City will be getting a new home. Currently, the ballot box is located on the grounds of Grant County Fire District 10, located on Camelia Street.

“The fire district is selling their land and moving outside city limits,” said Shilo Christensen, finance director for the city of Royal City.

The district is selling to a private owner. This change from public to private ownership necessitates that the ballot box be moved. During its meeting on Tuesday, April 21, the Royal City Council authorized the mayor to sign an agreement with the Grant County Auditor that would allow the county to move the ballot box onto city property. The new location will be in the area of the Confluence Health Royal City Clinic, next to the Royal City Lions Park.

The ballot box is not expected to be moved until after the Royal City special election April 28 is past.
