COVID-19 cases: The week in review
GRANT AND ADAMS COUNTY— In the past week, the number of COVID-19 cases in Grant County passed the 100 mark and kept rising. As of Monday, April 13, Grant County had 122 confirmed cases. That is up by 32 from Monday, April 6.
From Monday, April 6 to Monday, April 13, Royal City added one more confirmed case, making six total cases. Warden stayed the same with four. Mattawa jumped from 17 to 26 confirmed cases during the past week. There is one confirmed case in the Othello ZIP code area of Grant County.
In other parts of Grant County, Quincy went from 38 cases to 47 cases. Ephrata added two more confirmed cases for a total of 12. Moses Lake had 22 cases, compared to 15 last Monday. Soap Lake went from one to four cases.
The number of pending tests went down in Grant County this past week from 215 on Monday, April 6, to 130 on Monday, April 13. Of the pending results, 28 cases were considered to be probable. So far, 1,026 tests have come back negative.
Seven people are hospitalized with COVID-19. There were no new deaths this week, leaving the death toll in the county at two. So far, 28 people who had positive test results have recovered from the virus.
Of the confirmed cases, 48 are male and 74 are female. Three cases are in children 18 years of age and younger. In the 19- to 40-year-old range, there are 46 cases. Forty-three cases have been reported in the 41- to 60-year-old range. Twenty-four 61- to 80-year-olds have tested positive. Only one person 80 and over has tested positive.
Again this past week, Adams County had two days when there were no new cases, April 9 and 10. It was the second week in a row when the county went two days without new cases. However, the following day, the county received seven positive test results.
As of Monday, April 13, Adams County had a total of 40 COVID-19 cases. That number is up by 11 from Monday, April 6. The county still has no deaths caused by the virus, and the number of people hospitalized went from one to two over the course of the week.
As of Monday, the county had sent out 230 tests. Of those, 135 were negative and 41 are pending. Twenty-four of the tests are considered “probable” positive cases.
So far, 15 positive cases have recovered. That has doubled from last Monday’s number of seven. Eleven of the recovered cases are in Othello, two are in Lind and two are in Ritzville.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Othello area is 36. That number is up from 25 last Monday. Lind and Ritzville have only had two cases each.
Three cases have been reported in those 19 and younger. There have been 11 cases in the 20- to 39-year-old age range. The 40- to 59-year-old age range has had 15 cases. Ten cases have been reported in the 60- to 79-year-old range. No cases have been reported in the 80 and older age range. As of Monday evening, the number of cases is split evenly between male and female.
