Pioneer Way sidewalk replacement could begin soon
MOSES LAKE — Construction could start this month on a project to replace sidewalks on a portion of South Pioneer Way.
Some construction has been halted in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, but the sidewalk project fits guidelines that could allow it to continue. City engineer Richard Law said the work should take three to four weeks.
The project includes replacing sidewalk, curbs and stormwater catch basins on the west side of Pioneer Way, starting at the AutoZone Auto Parts store and heading south to East Hill Street. The existing sidewalk and catch basins are old and deteriorating, Law said. About 2,000 square yards of sidewalk will be replaced with a new six-inch-thick sidewalk.
The project is expected to cost about $230,000, Law said.
