Allison Heimbigner, a long time resident of Moses Lake, passed away March 27, 2020 at the age of 93. Allison and her late husband Ken enjoyed over 70 years of marriage together prior to Ken’s passing in 2017. The Heimbigners moved their family to Moses Lake from Ephrata in 1964 and owned and operated Moses Lake Furniture (on Broadway) for many years.

Allison was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Elsie and Robert Marti. Along with her twin sister Allene and her two older sisters Roberta and Jean, she grew up in the Spokane Valley and Ritzville. She began high school in the Spokane Valley at Central Valley High School and then graduated from Ritzville High School in 1944. Following a year attending Eastern Washington College of Education, Allison returned to Ritzville where she was employed at the Adams County Courthouse. Allison and Ken were married in 1946 and eventually moved to Ellensburg to manage a ranch raising Black Angus cattle. Following family moves to Ephrata and Moses Lake, Allison and Ken owned Moses Lake Furniture and Ritzville Furniture for over 25 years. They were active in the Northwest Furniture Retailer Association, especially during the time Ken served as President of the association.

Allison was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moses Lake for over 50 years including singing in the choir. Besides her involvement with school activities for her children, she was also active over the years in Soroptimist and PEO. Friends of Allison will remember that she enjoyed reading, singing, helping children, being with family and following the Mariners and Seahawks. Allison and Ken were avid travelers, enjoying many trips throughout the United States as well as trips to Europe and Asia.

Allison is survived by her children Sandra and Deni Atkinson of Ritzville, Washington, Brian and Linda Heimbigner of Cumming, Georgia and Douglas Heimbigner and Hally Birnbaum of New York. Other survivors include her sister-in-law Barbara Niendam of Spokane, Washington as well as Ken and Allison’s grandchildren Eric and Tana Atkinson of Spokane, Washington, Ryan Atkinson and Alison Forsythe of Germany, Kristi and Greg Kruepke of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Kali and Tom Andrus of Issaquah, Washington and great-grandchildren Lauren, Tyler, Trevor, Kyle, Cameron, Nathan, Harper and Camila.
