CBHA to host color run this Saturday in Othello
Othello — The Columbia Basin Health Association (CBHA) will hold its second annual Run For A Cause 5K Color Run in Othello this Saturday, Sept. 28.
“CBHA’s Run For A Cause 5K Color is a fun, family-friendly event that activates our community in a celebration of childhood health and well-being,” said Courtney Stein, event coordinator.
Last year, the first year for the event, over 550 people participated. This year, CBHA anticipates approximately the same amount of people this year. The color run is open to walkers and runners of all ages. Participants will be splashed with paint along the way.
“It’s less about making record time and more about having the time of your life,” Stein said. “CBHA’s Run For A Cause 5K Color is a family-friendly event where runners, walkers, strollers, and wagons are all welcome.”
The goal of the color run is to raise awareness about childhood obesity and wellness.
“Our goal is to increase awareness of childhood obesity along with supporting families who deal with this every day, and improve education on maintaining wellness for all children,” Stein said. “Participants learn about and become more aware of childhood obesity, as well as overall health and well-being of our children.”
The money raised from the color run will go toward scholarships and community events that support families. A complete list of sponsors is available on the website www.cbharunforacause.com.
Registration and check-in will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the front of the Othello CBHA clinic, 1515 Columbia St. The race starts at 9 a.m. in front of the clinic. For a map of the race route, visit the website at www.cbharunforacause.com.
“CBHA Run For A Cause 5K Color Run is an opportunity to bring the people of our community together to enjoy good, wholesome fun with race and post-race lawn activities and food for the entire family,” Stein said.
