Football roundup: Warden wins shootout against Okanogan

Warden 48, Okanogan 44

WARDEN — Warden won a shootout against Okanogan 48-44.

The Cougars held on at the end, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-21 in the fourth quarter to protect a narrow lead.

The Cougars opened up a 14-0 lead and led 20-16 at halftime. Okanogan took its first lead in the third quarter, 30-26, before Ryan Arredondo found Tyson Wall for a 48-yard touchdown.

Arredondo erased another deficit with a 61-yard TD toss to Edgar Hernandez to pull the Cougars ahead, 38-37.

A 3-yard rushing touchdown by Josue Ramos swung the lead back to Okanogan. Warden had one more comeback after Arredondo completed another touchdown pass and a 2-point conversion to Holden Haworth for a 4-point cushion.

Othello 3, Connell 0

OTHELLO — Patrick Azevedo hit a 25-yard field goal as time expired and Othello beat Connell in a defensive battle 3-0.

Isaac Barragan had the best offensive output of the night with 151 yards on 27 carries. Isaiah Perez added 59 yards on the ground.

Othello held Connell under 100 yards of total offense, including a paltry 24 rushing yards.

Wahluke 74, Wapato 33

MATTAWA — Wahluke eclipsed 450 total yards to blow out Wapato 74-33.

Oscar Rodriguez threw five touchdowns, including a 73-yarder to Jovani Alejo.

Despite the lopsided score, Class 2A Wapato hung around as Wahluke entered halftime only ahead 27-25. However, the Warriors were able to outscore the Wolves 47-8 in the second half.

Jose Celaya averaged over 10 yards per carry on his way to 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Alejo had an efficient two receptions for 108 yards and two scores.
