Robert Gene Moyer
December 21, 1944 – August 24, 2019
Robert (Bob) Gene Moyer peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Bob was born to Otis and Helen Moyer on Dec. 21, 1944, in Ritzville, Washington. He was one of seven children.
As a young man, he attended elementary school in Moses Lake and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1963. Bob went on to attend Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University. He graduated from Gonzaga with a degree in electrical engineering. Bob joined the U.S. Army in August of 1966 and proudly served his country in Okinawa, Japan, and Thailand in Southeast Asia. He completed his military deployment and returned home in June of 1969.
Bob worked for Swartz Electric in Moses Lake for a time, then moved to Homer, Alaska where he worked for Homer Electric. In 1976 he moved back to Moses Lake and opened Moyer Electric and Engineering. He worked as a local electrical contractor until he retired in 2007 at the age of 62.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and sharing his love of the outdoors with his family. He and his brother Chuck and brother-in-law, Marv would take many trips backpacking, mountain climbing and trail riding on their motorcycles. He took his niece Marcy and nephew Mark on many camping and skiing trips, around the country, including traveling to Canada and Alaska. His favorite place was to be out in the woods and enjoying nature.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Otis Moyer, mother Helen Moyer, brother Joseph Brychell, sister Donna King, brother-in-law Merle King, sister Berry Rindal and nephew Michael Varney. He leaves behind his loving family: brother Charles (Chuck) Moyer and wife Linda, sister Mary Maslen and husband Marv, niece Marcy Maslen, nephew Mark Maslen and wife Keilani, brother Leroy Moyer and wife Terry, niece Christina Kooistra and husband Scott, nephew Michael Moyer and wife Heather, sister-in-law Lauris Brychell and nephews Joe Brychell Jr and Jimmy Brychell, niece Jeannette Sugai and husband Darin, nephew Wayne King and wife Gail and nephew Rusty King and wife Carol, as well several cousins and many friends.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Bob has requested not to have a memorial service but to be remembered as the happy, fun-loving man he was.
