SOAP LAKE — A Soap Lake man was sentenced to seven years (84 months) in federal prison Thursday after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamines and intending to distribute them.

Daniel Coreas, Jr., 28, pleaded guilty to possession of more than five grams of meth with the intent to distribute. He also was sentenced to four years of probation after he’s released from jail, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

Officers with the Grant County Interagency Narcotic Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on Coreas’ residence on June 12, 2018, the press release said. Officers “seized over 18 grams of methamphetamine and multiple rounds of ammunition,” it said.

The task force worked with the Spokane office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the investigation.

The case was prosecuted under the Project Safe Neighborhoods program. The program “is a federal, state and local law enforcement collaboration to identify, investigate and prosecute individuals responsible for violent crimes in our neighborhoods.”
