Woman dies from injuries received in jet ski collision on Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE - A 27-year-old woman died from injuries she received in a jet ski collision on Moses Lake on Saturday.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the collision occurred on the water near Blue Heron Park about 5 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing 27-year-old Adra-Ann Rice, of Des Moines, on a jet ski with her eight-year-old daughter when they were struck by another jet ski driven by a 17-year-old boy.

Bystanders entered the water immediately after the collision and were able to render first aid to the three victims until emergency crews arrived. They were transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. Rice ultimately died at the hospital. The 17-year-old boy and Rice’s daughter were not seriously injured. The cause of the fatal collision is under investigation.

“Our hearts hurt for this family. On behalf of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest sympathies to them during this excruciatingly difficult time,” Sheriff Tom Jones said. “I hope that our community will also share the same sentiment by offering comfort as they try to deal with their sudden and tragic loss.”
