MATTAWA — On Tuesday, March 12, the Wahluke School Board approved the purchase of five new school buses at its regular board meeting.
The initial cost for the new buses is being financed through a loan with a five-year pay-off period.
“The actual money comes through the state for bus depreciation,” said Wahluke Superintendent Robert Eckert. “We get an annual payment at the end of each year, depending on the age of the buses. We have several buses that are old. They were not replaced in a timely manner. We are catching up a bit.”
