GEORGE — A Moses Lake man was arrested for DUI after he allegedly left the scene of an accident near George Saturday evening. Additional charges may be coming.
Bryan Bickel, 41, was arrested after he allegedly drove away from the scene of an accident at the intersection of Interstate 90 and state Route 281 near George, according to a press release issued by the Washington State Patrol. The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Bickel was eastbound on Interstate 90 and exited the freeway at George, stopping at the stop sign, according to the WSP memo. But he allegedly drove into the intersection and hit a car driven by Amadeo Coronel Vera, 41, George. Coronel Vera was driving southbound into George, and Bickel hit his car on the passenger side.
Three passengers in Coronel Vega’s car, Irene Coronel Garcia, 35, George; Yordi Coronel, 19, George and an 11-year-old girl were injured. They were transported to Quincy Valley Hospital for treatment.
After the accident Bickel allegedly drove back onto the freeway, going east, and attempted to cross the median into the westbound lanes. But he got his car stuck in the cable barrier, the press release said. He then fled on foot, according to the press release, before he was apprehended.
