Summer baseball roundup: Riverdogs 17U wins tournament in Wenatchee
WENATCHEE — The Columbia Basin Riverdogs 17U program finished 3-1 in Wenatchee to place first.
The Riverdogs scored four runs in the seventh inning and rallied to beat Wilder 8-7 in the tournament finale.
Royce Valdez drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to tie the game 6-6. Tre Spencer followed with another base on balls to give the Riverdogs the lead for good. Spencer also doubled and drove in two runs.
Columbia Basin’s tournament began with a 6-5 win over Avb Blues and a 7-2 victory over Mt. Spokane II. The Southridge Bandits AA handed the Riverdogs their lone loss of the weekend 9-7.
Riverdogs 19U 3-1 over the weekend
EPHRATA — Columbia Basin went 3-1 at its home tournament.
Moses Lake’s Dax Lindgren earned the win from the mound and drove in a run in a 2-0 victory over Mt. Spokane. The Riverdogs lost to the Kennewick Outlaws 10-5 before returning Sunday to beat Lakeside Recovery 8-0 and the Wenatchee Apple Packers 7-0.
Othello’s Jonathan Garza earned the victory against Wenatchee; Tre Ramirez added three innings of scoreless relief. Joe Taylor hit an RBI triple and scored once.
Pepsi Pak 15-21, Spuds 2-1
MOSES LAKE — Central Washington is still looking for its first win of the summer after losing to the Pepsi Pak twice 15-2 and 21-1.
Malik Hathaway had one RBI in each game of the doubleheader.
Red Raiders 8-17, Mt. Spokane 12-1
OTHELLO — The Red Raiders split a home doubleheader with Mt. Spokane, losing the opener 12-8 before winning the second 17-1.
Nate Garza Jr. tripled and drove in four runs in the nightcap.
