Baseball roundup: Riverdogs win, lose, tie over weekend
MOSES LAKE — The Riverdogs had a high-variance weekend with two wins, one loss and two ties.
Jonathan Garza allowed one run in seven innings as the Riverdogs tied the Spokane Crew 1-1 on Friday at Larson Playfield. In the nightcap, Josh Williams drove in a pair of runs and Columbia Basin held on the beat Spokane 8-6.
On Saturday, Columbia Basin fell to the Tri-Cities Reign 4-3 in eight innings. The Riverdogs added another tie to their record after a 9-9 final against the Federal Way Knights. The Riverdogs scored four runs in the final inning to tie the game.
JC Worsham, of Royal City, hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs and Columbia Basin beat the Diamond Jaxx 16-2 in the tournament finale on Sunday.
Red Raiders split four close games
The Red Raiders had a nail-biting weekend with four games decided by one run.
The Red Raiders split a doubleheader with the Wenatchee Blues, winning the first 5-4 before losing 3-2.
Concepcion Sauceda drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning to score the go-ahead run for the Red Raiders. Trey Garza hit a solo home run in the fifth to tie the game 2-2.
The Red Raiders also split with the Richland Knights. The Red Raiders edged the Knights 2-1 then lost 8-7.
