Baseball roundup: Othello finishes 2-2 at Red Hawk Classic

Othello Red Raiders 11, Walla Walla 0

EAST VALLEY — The Red Raiders defeated Walla Walla in Game 2 of the Red Hawk Classic in a no-hitter on Friday in Yakima. Trey Garza and Jonathan Gomez combined on the mound for the no-hitter for Othello. Garza finished with four strikeouts, while Gomez finished with three.

Up 3-0 after two innings, the Red Raiders poured in seven runs to stretch out the lead, before adding an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth. Othello closed out the win after four and a half innings.

Joshua Garza finished 3-3 from the plate for the Red Raiders, adding a run and RBI. Sebastian Muñoz had a big day, finishing 3-3 as well, knocking in five RBIs. Othello finished with 12 hits as a team in the win, with no errors from the field.

Red Raiders 16, Eisenhower 0

Othello threw a second-straight no-hitter in the Red Hawk Classic on Saturday, defeating Eisenhower in four and a half innings. Ruben Holt and Bryce Corrales combined on the mound for the no hitter. Holt finished with one strikeout, while Corrales finished with a pair.

The Red Raiders were up 4-0 after one, before adding a pair of runs in the second inning. Four more runs in the third gave the Red Raiders the 10-0 lead before a big six-run fourth cemented the win for Othello.

The Red Raiders picked up the big scoring game with just six hits as a team, due in large part to nine errors from Eisenhower in the field. Nathan Garza Jr. and Joshua Garza each finished with three RBIs and a pair of runs on the day. Garza Jr. finished 2-4 from the plate, with a double and triple as well.

East Valley 4, Red Raiders 3

Othello fell in their final game of the Red Hawk Classic on Sunday in Yakima to East Valley. Up 1-0 after the first. East Valley evened the score in the bottom of the third. A pair of runs gave the Red Raiders the lead back in the fourth, before East Valley drew even the next inning.

A run in the bottom of the sixth sealed the defeat for the Red Raiders. East Valley outhit Othello 8-4 in the game, with a pair of errors in the field. Othello finished error-free as a team.

Four Red Raiders finished with one hit apiece. Kevin Garza finished 1-2 for the Red Raiders from the plate, with a run, RBI, and a double.

Othello sits at 19-15 on the season after the weekend tournament in Yakima, with a home-away series against the Yakima Peppers starting on Monday on the road.
