OTHELLO — The fight against cancer goes on this Saturday in Othello, one lap at a time.

The Othello Relay for Life-Heart of the Basin is scheduled for 3 to about 10:30 p.m. July 13 at Pioneer Park on Othello’s Main Street.

The event will start with a dinner honoring survivors at about 3:30 p.m., with Classic Grillin’ catering the meal. The evening will feature a lot of activities, from a silent auction to games, “lots of food,” Melissa Martinez said, to the performance of a local dance group.

In 2018 the relay didn’t include walking laps, but for 2019 “we are adding the walking back again,” Martinez said.

Othello’s luminary ceremony will be at about 9:15 p.m. The closing ceremonies will be at 10 to 10:15 p.m. People can sign up for the relay at www.relayforlife.org. The website allows people to start a new team or join existing teams – or people can just come to the relays, “ Martinez said. “Everybody is welcome to come,” she said.
