Summer Baseball: Riverdogs, Red Raiders pick up Thursday wins

Othello 9, Pasco 0

PASCO — In a nine-inning affair, the Red Raiders continue their surge of wins with a shutout of Pasco on the road, 9-0. Othello is now 13-9 after sitting at .500 less than a week ago.

Scoreless until the third, Othello put a pair of runs on the scoreboard to take the lead. Seven runs across the sixth and seventh inning stretched the Red Raiders’ lead out.

Sebastian Muñoz and Jaxon Rocha threw a combined effort, allowing no runs off six hits. Each pitcher had three hits allowed, with Muñoz tossing eight strikeouts while Rocha finished with four.

Jonathan Gomez finished 4-4 from the plate for Othello, adding an RBI. Andre Gomez went 0-3 for the day, but knocked in four RBIs. The Red Raiders as a team finished with 15 hits in the game, with just one error in the field.

Pasco finished with the six hits, but allowed five errors on the afternoon.

Columbia Basin 2, Northwest 2

VANCOUVER — After a back-and-forth battle, neither team could pull away as the Riverdogs walked away with their fourth tie on the year in their first game of the afternoon.

Going up 2-0 early, the Bandits responded with a run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to one. After a pair of scoreless innings, Northwest tied the game in the fifth. Four scoreless innings followed to end the game in a tie after eight innings.

Five Riverdogs finished with a hit apiece, with Dominic Signorelli and Josh Williams both knocking in an RBI. Both teams finished with five hits, while surrendering just one error in the field.

Columbia Basin 6, Northwest 4

A big first inning helped the Riverdogs hold off the Northwest Star Academy Roadrunners in the second game of the day. Columbia Basin sits at 9-3-4 now on the season.

Six runs in the top of the first gave the Columbia Basin squad enough to pick up the eventual win, but not without a fight from Northwest. Four runs across the third and fourth cut the deficit to just two runs, but the Riverdogs were able to hold the opponent scoreless to pick up the victory.

Evan McLean had a big second game from the plate, going 3-4, with three RBIs, a triple, and one run earned. The Riverdogs as team finished with seven hits, and were able to pick up the win despite five mishaps in the field.

Northwest finished with six hits and three errors in the field.
