MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake School District says a rumored threat at Chief Moses Middle School stemmed from a viral social media post.

On his Facebook page Monday morning MLSD Superintendent Josh Meek said the rumored threat at Chief Moses was investigated in cooperation with the Moses Lake Police Department. The rumored threat was received by the district on Sunday and Meek said the investigation revealed a viral social media post was made and used to spread the rumor.

“Additionally, all students involved have been contacted, and disciplined as appropriate. We always take threats to student safety seriously. School operations will continue as normal at Chief Moses Middle School and Camp 5,” Meek said.

Meek encouraged anyone with additional information to share it with a school official.

Another threat was reported at McFarland Middle School in Othello on Sunday. The Othello School District said the Othello Police Department is investigating and school activities will go on as planned today.
