Mary Imogene (Jean) Stephens

Mary Imogene (Jean) Stephens, 92, was born in Norfork, Arkansas on Dec. 7, 1926 to Edward and Mary Simpson of Norfork, Arkansas. She was one of 10 children born to the Simpson family.

She died peacefully surrounded by her family on Jan. 16, 2019 in Everett, Washington.

Jean was married to Ewell B. Stephens for over 70 years. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2014.

For the past four and one-half years Jean lived in the Arlington-Marysville, Washington area. She missed her home in Othello, Washington where she and Ewell homesteaded a small 2 1/2-acre gentlemen farm. He and Jean built their family home there and raised their four children. Jean was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Jean is survived by her daughter Ginger Niva (Dennis) of Arlington, Washington; sons Paul Stephens (Brenda) of Redmond, Oregon, Tim Stephens (Joy) of Kennewick, Washington and daughter-in-law Cheree Stephens of Wenatchee, Washington; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers in Arkansas. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews around the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ewell B. Stephens, her son Gary A. (Archie) Stephens, two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, Washington on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest by her beloved husband Ewell of 71 years. Memorial contributions may be given in her honor to 92nd Street Church of Christ Youth Fund for scholarships for camp and youth activities, 4226 92nd St. NE, Marysville, WA 98270.
