Picnic set for June

Law Enforcement Wives Association will have a family picnic Saturday, June 26, at Moses Lake State Park. Wednesday’s meeting has been canceled because of the family event.

The picnic will be an all-day affair, starting at 1:30 p.m., and continuing until 7 p.m., with games and races.

Wives of law officers, their families and guests are welcome. Those attending are asked to bring their own food, beverages and table service. Fire pits are available at the park for outdoor cooking.

Stroh working at project

Raymond “Ray” Stroh, Tracy Calif., has reported to the Bureau of Reclamation’s Grand Coulee Project for duties with the operations division.

Robert E. Evans, project manager, said Stroh will assume responsibilities held by Clell Vaughn, Coulee Dam, chief of the operations division.

The division chief has responsibility for managing and directing Grand Coulee Dam electricity generating and irrigation pumping operations. He has a staff of 74.

Evans said Stroh has been brought on board now in order to become thoroughly acquainted with complexities of the operations division at the world’s largest hydroelectric facility before Vaughn retires in July.

Club shoot

The Moses Lake Gun Club will host a registered shoot Sunday.

Club officials announced that a nearly $1,000 purse will be up for grabs in the 250-bird Sunday event, which starts at 8 a.m.

A Saturday morning work detail, which also starts at 8, will be followed by a practice session for Sunday’s competition.

The weekend action is an American Trapshooting Association registered shoot and the public is welcome to attend. The gun club is located adjacent to the Grant County Fairgrounds.
