Four-legged deputy nabs suspected impaired driver

BEVERLY — K-9 Edo came up big recently in the clutch when he helped police catch a suspected impaired driver.
The arrest relates to an incident involving a officer with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, who attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Alfredo Rodriguez Santos, 29. Santos refused to pull over, however, and proceeded to lead the officer on a chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Santos eventually pulled into a residence in the 20100 block of Lower Crab Creek Road Southwest, ditched his vehicle and ran on foot. The Department of Fish and Wildlife requested a K-9 to help search the area and Deputy Tyson Voss responded with K-9 Edo.
Edo searched for around 30 minutes and was able to find Santos hiding in some tall weeds. Santos sustained injuries during his encounter with Edo and was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Santos was later booked into the Grant County Jail for felony attempting to elude a police officer.
