Dryside Fly Fishers meeting next week

The Dryside Fly Fishers is the local fly-fishing club. They have been in existence for…, well, for a long time. The history of the club needs to be researched. For now, just know they are alive and well these days.

Tera Redwine reports the next meeting is next Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Lake Bowl in Moses Lake. The group will gather at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30.

The presenter will be Greg Bennett, owner of Put M Bac Guide Service. Bennett is also the president of the Okanogan Fly Fishing Club. He will be speaking about his experiences in the Pacific Northwest, both lakes and streams, along with his trips to Canada.

The name of the guide is interesting and caught me off guard at first, as how to pronounce it. It is sometimes spelled Putmbac, but on the website it is broken into Put M Bac or put them back. Great play on words.

Dates of interest for club member and the public in general include: The Yakima Sportsman Show, Feb. 15-17; Fly Fishing Show in Lynnwood, Feb. 16-17; Sportsman Show in Wenatchee, Feb. 22-24; Big Horn Show in Spokane, March 21-24.

More club reminders: March 1, Quincy Lake Opener; March 2, Quincy Chamber of Commerce Trout Derby; March 6, Club meeting Lake Bowl, with Northwest District Biologists Travis Maitland and Ryan Fortier as presenters; April 1, Dry Falls and Hampton opener.

Comments of hunting seasons proposals wanted

Fish and wildlife will be looking for public comments on proposed recommendations for the 2019 and 2020 hunting seasons. The proposals are now available to view.

Comments will be accepted by Fish and Wildlife until midnight, Pacific time on Feb. 13.
