Moses Lake Food Bank seeking construction donations

Money will go to building new food bank

MOSES LAKE — Operators of the Moses Lake Food Bank have the land and some of the money necessary to build a new facility, and they’re looking for community donations to help finish the project.

The land, located at the intersection of Grape Drive and SR-17, was donated in 2013. Community Services of Moses Lake was allocated $2 million for design and construction in the 2019-20 state capital budget approved by the Washington Legislature in April.

But the total project cost is about $2.8 million, according to a CMSL press release. “Currently we have a shortfall of approximately $725,000,” the press release said.

The new facility will house the existing food bank, as well as a warehouse, distribution facility and more food storage. Moses Lake is a distribution center for food banks throughout central Washington, including Grant and Adams counties.

Donations can be mailed to Community Services of Moses Lake, PO Box 683, Moses Lake, or dropped off at the existing food bank location, 1075 West Marina Drive.
