Basin roundup: Runnin’ Vikes’ win streak snapped against Pierce

MOSES LAKE — Big Bend men’s basketball fell in overtime to Pierce on Friday night, 84-79. The loss snaps a four-game win streak.

Big Bend trailed by five points going into the locker room after the first half, but were able to fight back and force overtime at 73-73. The Runnin’ Vikes shot just 2-10 in the extra period.

Denis Ulyanchuk had a monster game scoring 28 points while pulling down 20 rebounds. Jahvontae’ Jones finished with 23 for Big Bend, chipping in five boards and four steals. Jaden Brown filled the stat sheet, leading the team with eight assists to go with seven points, six rebounds, two steals and a block.

The next game for the Runnin’ Vikes will be on the road on Jan. 2 against North Idaho.

Women’s basketball

Clackamas 82, Big Bend 64

Stat Leaders: Kayla Luke, 23 points; Anna Yarbro, 8 rebounds; Kelsey Sorenson, 3 assists. The next game for Big Bend is on Saturday, Dec. 28, against Everett.

Girls basketball (Friday)

Sunnyside 51, Moses Lake 47

SUNNYSIDE — Moses Lake suffered its first loss of the season on the road at Sunnyside 51-47.

The Chiefs were held to eight points in the fourth quarter and Grizzlies sophomore Analyssa Maldonado poured in 26 points.

Madisyn Clark scored a team-high 17 points. Camille Carpenter and Anna Olson added nine and eight points, respectively.

Wapato 58, Quincy 35

WAPATO – Emily Wurl scored 12 points in Quincy’s 58-35 loss at Wapato.

The Jacks were outscored 22-10 in the fourth quarter. Jane Kennedy scored nine and Jackie Dearie had seven.

Prosser 70, Othello 44

PROSSER — Othello was held to 13 points in the second half and lost to Prosser 70-44.

Analee Coronado led the Huskies with 10 points.

Brayton Schafer, Chase Gerard and Grady Murray scored 12 points each for the Warriors. ACH created separation with a 14-6 second quarter.
